About the Management

The Managing Board consists of eminent individuals occupying leading positions in industry and society. The college is fortunate to have their constant support and encouragement which has allowed the institution to aspire and achieve higher benchmarks continuously. The board shares the vision of the college of providing world class education to the students and this has helped the college to evolve over the last 74 years. After the conferment of Autonomous Status in 2018, the college has been able to set new goals for reaching global standards while conforming with guidelines of the State Government and the University of Mumbai, given the support of the management. The progressive thinking of the board has allowed the institution to acquire state of the art infrastructure to support the adoption of latest teaching techniques.

Distinctly respected & renowned Dr Vijay Dabholkar is heading the highly reputed Jai Hind College as the institute's principal. That is the latest feather in his already decorated cap as his career boasts many highs. He holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry, for which he is also a recognised research guide for Masters, M.Phil and Ph. D students. In his previous endeavours he was the coordinator for BSc IT & MSc IT department, Study India Programme -Deakin University, Australia and the IQAC + NAAC Committees at K.C. College. Before Jai Hind, he was also the principal of the Guru Nanak College and a vice-principal of the K.C. College.

Right from the beginning, as an academician, Dr Dabholkar consistently worked on upskilling. His aim to grow is quite evident by the fact that he not only attended three refresher courses organised by the University of Mumbai but also conducted nine UGC-sponsored workshops on Industrial Chemistry between 1994 -1997. He is a published author of UGC-sponsored study Material for F.Y., S.Y., T.Y.B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry and has a couple of patents to his credit. Known for his immense interest in research & development, Dr Dabholkar is the recipient of seven UGC grants and as a co-author, he has an impressive track record of 50 papers presented by him & spectacular 97 papers published with his distinguished credentials.

Over the years, his excellency in research and related areas of academia took him places quite literally. He was not only invited as an ‘Observer for The National and International Chemistry Olympiad’ but also visited Union College in New York, the Institute of Technology in New Jersey and Temple University, State University of West Georgia, Carrolton, USA as deputed by Collegiate Board of K.C.College.

In a career spanning over three decades, Dr Dabholkar earned high regard and recommendations that got him to hold key positions at various Indian universities. He has been on several syllabus-designing committees of science-related faculties at the University of Mumbai. Not only that, he has also been a Refree for BITS Pilani, Rajasthan and Srinagar University. He has also been the Advisor to the Staff Selection Committee, Government of India.

Dr Vijay Dabholkar’s achievements as an academician have been greatly recognised by many honours that he has received in his illustrious career so far. Right from winning ‘The Best Student’ Award back in his own college days in 1989 to winning the ‘Best Presentation’ of paper by the Indian Chemical Society in 1997, and then to being honoured with titles like ‘K. C Ratna’ award for overall Outstanding Contribution in 2010 and ‘Best Teacher’ by the University of Mumbai in 2018, Dr Dabholkar has consistently proven his mettle.

Apart from his paramount achievements, Dr Dabholkar is a force to reckon with. He is an influential source of inspiration for his students and colleagues. His confidence, nobility and kindness along with his determination and aspiration to further the mission of changing lives with education is commendable. He is the epitome of everything that a teacher ought to be. As Rumi once said, “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do”, Dr Vijay Dabholkar has personified this as an academician throughout his life.
